Custom Machine Design
Custom machine design for qualified projects where a standard machine configuration does not fit your part or process. Forming Tech Pro develops customized machinery around your part, process and production requirements.
When a Standard Configuration May Not Be Enough
Most parts are reviewed against our standard machine categories first. A custom machine design is worth discussing when:
- the part geometry or forming sequence does not match the configuration of a standard model;
- the process needs a combination of forming steps that no single standard machine covers; or
- the machine has to fit into a larger production line or a defined production flow.
Our engineers review every part drawing before recommending either a standard machine or a customized one.
What Custom Machine Design Covers
Custom machine development is part of our approved capability. A custom forming machine project is built around your part drawing and production requirements, and can be discussed in the context of our wire bending, tube bending, spring making and multi-function machine categories, or of an automated production line. Where a part needs a special purpose forming machine rather than a catalog model, the first step is the same: send the part drawing.
Custom Machine Design Process
Part Drawing
You send the part drawing and your production requirements.
Process Feasibility
Our engineers review whether and how the part can be formed, and which process steps are needed.
Machine Selection
The part is compared with our standard machine categories to confirm whether a standard configuration is sufficient.
Custom Design
Where a standard configuration is not sufficient, the machine configuration is designed around your part and process.
Build / Test
The machine is built and tested in-house.
Delivery
Before shipment, machines can be reviewed through video machine inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), or a customer on-site factory inspection.
Production Support
Installation, commissioning, operator training, remote technical support and spare parts support, with a standard 2-year warranty.
In-House Engineering Capability
Our engineering team includes 6 R&D engineers, 20 mechanical engineers and 6 electrical engineers. Mechanical machining, machine assembly, electrical cabinet integration, software development, machine commissioning, machine testing are all carried out in-house.
Start From the Closest Machine Category
Review the standard machines nearest to your part first. They show the machine families a custom design would build on.
CNC wire bending machines, from 3D multi-axis systems to double-head wire bending machines.
Tube Bending MachinesMulti-axis and all-electric CNC tube bending machines.
Spring Making MachinesMulti-slide spring forming machines and CNC compression spring machines.
Multi-Function Forming MachinesIntegrated head forming and wire bending in one machine.
Automated Tube Processing LinesIntegrated tube processing lines combining robotic handling with automated tube processing steps.
What to Send
Start with your part drawing. Where available, add the part or product name, material, size, required processes and your production requirement.
Custom Machine Design FAQ
What is custom machine design?
Custom machine design is the engineering of a machine configuration around a specific part and process when a standard model is not sufficient. It starts from your part drawing and production requirements.
Can Forming Tech Pro build a custom wire bending machine or custom tube bending machine?
Custom machine development is part of our approved capability. Whether a custom wire bending machine or custom tube bending machine is appropriate depends on your part drawing and production requirements, so the first step is an engineering review. Our standard CNC models are listed under Wire Bending Machines and Tube Bending Machines.
What should I send to start a custom machine project?
Send your part drawing and, where available, the material, size, required processes and production requirement.
Are specifications, prices or delivery times published for custom machines?
No. A custom machine is specified from your project, so performance figures, cost and timing are confirmed in the project review rather than published in advance.
